North Island: Volcanoes & Beaches
Most legendary trips start in the big smoke. Grab your campervan hire in Auckland and tackle the Twin Coast Discovery or head south for the Volcanic Rim. You can cruise through Hobbiton, check out the glow worms in Waitomo, and soak in Rotorua without worrying about booking hotels. If you have time, the drive from Auckland to Wellington is a classic North Island bucket list item.
South Island: Alps, Lakes & Adrenaline
If you prefer dramatic mountains and glacial lakes, the South Island is your playground. Many adventurers start with a Christchurch rental to hit the Arthur’s Pass loop or drive down the coast to Dunedin. It is the perfect gateway to see the whales in Kaikoura or the stars at Lake Tekapo.
